~ Bodywork Modalities ~

Drawing from these massage and bodywork techniques your session will be tailored to fit your needs. Whether you are looking for stress relief, relaxation, injury rehabilitation or wellness maintenance, safe and appropriate techniques will be utilized to reach your desired outcomes.

Swedish

This form of massage, utilizing long, flowing strokes, is deeply relaxing and effective therapy that helps overall well-being and reduces muscle tension. This is an excellent choice if you are seeking relaxation, stress relief and general maintenance... a building block towards becoming aware of your body and it's needs.

Deep Tissue Techniques*

*Muscle sculpting
This is designed for more focused work addressing specific joints, muscles or muscle groups. It starts superficially and eases into the depth of soft tissue slowly and effectively to access deeper layers. Deep tissue and muscle sculpting can break up and eliminate scar tissue, as well as loosen stuck fibers while releasing deeply held patterns of chronic tension. This is a great tool to increase body awareness, the intensity demands attention be paid to the deeper tissue being worked.

*Myofascial Release
Myofascial release represents a technique specifically aimed at facilitating positive change within a connective tissue in the body known as fascia. Fascia has been described as the most pervasive tissue in the body, representing a three-dimensional network from head to toe. In order to effectively manipulate the fascia, your massage practitioner will perform tests of range of motion, incorporate subtle pulls, use a variety of stretches, and apply gentle pressure to the joints and attachment sites of muscles. It is a technique hallmarked by long, slow holds of the various parts of the body and the maintaining of specific muscular poses

*Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are areas of tender muscle tissue or 'knots' that may refer pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body. We develop them through lifestyle, trauma, injury, overuse, misuse & stress. It is a technique that involves applying pressure to tender muscle tissue to locate points where pain is generated, increasing circulation and stimulating the nervous system which relieve areas of pain and discomfort.

CranioSacral Therapy

This is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, restrictions are released in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. Some say that is feels like they've had 2-3 hours of restful sleep

Hot Stone Massage

A nurturing & and deeply relaxing experience that warms and soothes the muscles through the use of basalt stones. The warm stones are placed on energy centers and used to massage away tension and stress.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning universal life energy. It is a non-intrusive method of hands-on healing that taps into the energy referred to by philosophers and martial artists as ki in Japan, chi in China and prana in India. The practice of Reiki is based on the teachings of a Japanese man, Mikao Usui, who taught and practiced Reiki in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Research into the source of Usui's work points to ancient Buddhist sutras and the teachings of great Eastern masters as well as his own meditation practice.

Reiki is not massage, hypnosis, or a tool for diagnosing illness. Reiki is a technique that addresses both chronic and acute conditions, gently and powerfully promoting balance among all the body's systems and the normal regenerative processes of the body and mind.

Reiki can alleviate pain and stress and promote restful sleep, healing and relaxation. It can also stimulate the release of endorphins, which in turn help to speed up the healing and regenerative processes of the body. This non-aggressive, non-invasive approach makes this an excellent modality when deep massage is contraindicated.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient therapy credited to the ancient Chinese and Egyptian civilizations.  They believed that the feet are a map of the entire body including all internal and external structures, systems and organs.  On this map are reflex points or zones corresponding to specific areas of the body.

Reflexology works by applying controlled compression with the fingers and thumb to these reflex points in order to detect energy blockages and then release them through further compression.

Your hour long Reflexology treatment include an aromatherapy foot bath, Reflexology assessment with treatment along the way and they end with a relaxing foot massage using aromatherapy scented oils.
